In the current world of cannabis strains, the cakes, cookies, and gelato dessert strains are raging in popularity. Ever since the Sherbinski crew created Gelato, and Seed Junky created Wedding Cake, breeders and fans alike have been going bonkers over these strains and their progeny.
At Smokey Okies, we are no different and we are also fans of the above genetic profiles, both for flavor and for the sheer enjoyment that smoking these strains brings us.
And in this review, I am going to share with you a strain that we grew in rotation for over a year: Cake and Ice Cream by Elev8 Seeds.
The difference between “Ice Cream Cake” and “Cake & Ice Cream” strains
This strain is not to be confused with the famed Ice Cream Cake. That strain was created by Seed Junky, and many copycats abound. There are so many strains out there under the name Ice Cream Cake, and the typical consumer is probably not getting the Seed Junky version. That’s because Seed Junky releases his seeds and clones in limited quantities. And once they are gone, they are gone.
But what happens when a strain is so popular that everyone wants to buy it? Growers start copycat strains that are not the real thing.
We are all about transparency and respect for the genetics here at Smokey Okies. We always give credit to the real breeders, and we never grow a strain that has questionable origins. Which is why we chose to grow Cake & Ice Cream by Elev8 Seeds.
The breeders at Elev8 wanted to jump on the bandwagon, but they also wanted to be true to themselves and the original creator of Ice Cream Cake. And therefore sought to create a strain that would mimic the popular qualities.

Cake and Ice Cream was created by crossing the famed Gelato #33 with Birthday Cake (GSC x Cherry Pie).
Beautiful, elegant nugs that have a gassy nose for the cake lovers out there. An enjoyable and relaxing smoke. The dominance of caryophyllene makes this strain greatfor fans of Gelato, Wedding Cake, Runtz and cookies crosses.
One of my personal favorites back when we used to grow this strain, I just have always been a fan of the great Cake strains.
