There is a lot of innovation that happens in the world of cannabis. The science of cannabis breeding brings with it infinite possibilities in terms of flavors and smoking experiences. We have loved being able to bring unique cannabis strains to Oklahoma as the state’s leading cannabis grower of high-quality strains grown in a clean and trusted facility. One of those strains is Apple Tartz.

Apple Tartz is a child strain of Apple Fritter, one of the most popular strains in the world. An evenly balanced strain that brings you a heavy, happy high, Apple Tartz boasts of baked-goods flavor.

Our first landmark strain, our Apple Tartz combines two of the most the popular strains of recent memory to bring you a sweet apple pie strain that is definitely worth trying out if you’re a fan of any strain related to cookies, cake, or Runtz variants.

Lineage of Apple Tartz

Apple Tartz was bred at Clearwater Genetics by crossing Apple Fritter with Runtz. Let’s take a deep dive into the flavors and highs that come with these two strains and how that creates a unique experience for Apple Tartz, one of Smokey Okie’s most popular strains. One thing to note here is that both Apple Fritter and Runtz have won Leafly’s Strain of the Year, so combining the two is a guaranteed success.

  • Apple Fritter
The lineage of Apple Fritter is unknown, but it was created by Lumpy’s Flowers, and has an even split between sativa and indica, giving you the ability to have a solid high, but still remain happy and giggly. The flavor profile for Apple Fritter starts with a rush of apple, but ends with peppery notes, along with a cheesy taste.
  • Runtz
Runtz is hailed as Leafly’s Strain of the Year for 2020, and is a combination of Zkittlez and Gelato. Everyone loves Runtz for its fruity sweet flavor and uplifting high. Smoking Runtz starts with a candy sweet flavor and also has a strong berry punch, as well as some holiday cookie spice.

Flavor Profile

When you think of an apple tart, you think of a sweet pastry with apples and cinnamon, and with our Apple Tartz strain, that’s the flavor you will get. When you first inhale, you’ll get a strong flavor of baked goods, perhaps even some granny smith or honey crisp apples. The strain is heavily influenced by its Apple Fritter lineage in terms of the donut dough flavor, and the Runtz strain brings in a sugary hue, along with a touch of a diesel/gas aroma and cinnamon tastes.

Apple Tartz also has a high level of caryophyllene, which is a terpene that delivers a spice or clove flavor to cannabis. It’s this terpene that gives Apple Tartz have gives it the sprinkle of cinnamon that you would find on top of a true apple tart. Some even describe it as tasting like Apple Jacks cereal

Apple Tartz has a stunning look, as well. With purple frosty nugs, it is as much an appeal for its appearance as it is for its flavor. In fact, we have just featured Apple Tartz in a week-by-week video series that looks at how the nugs flower and when to harvest. The long and short of it is, if you are looking for a flavorful fruity strain with an effective high, Apple Tartz should be on your shortlist for your next trip to the dispensary.

Smoking Experience

When you need a high that is relaxing, but also uplifting and you want to feel calm, but not couch-locked, Apple Tartz is a great option. It’s a great option for you to unwind after a long day because it will relax you without putting you to sleep. Because of its high THC level and ability to relax you, we would recommend trying out Apple Tartz to help provide therapeutic benefits for anxiety, ADHD or muscle spasms.

Don’t forget that you can view all our strains on our online strain catalog and can purchase Smokey Okie’s at your favorite local dispensaries.
